Springbok centre Andre Esterhuizen on Wednesday gave his new midfield partner Canan Moodie his full backing as the Boks prepare to line up against the All Blacks in their final Rugby World Cup warm-up game at Twickenham on Friday.
Andre Esterhuizen said, "Canan is an exciting player and he’s shown it with how he can score tries with the ball in hand,” said Esterhuizen. “He must just go out there and stay composed. I have no doubt we’ll link up well together.”
“He must just go out there and stay composed. I have no doubt we’ll link up well together.”
Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber moved Moodie from the wing, where he played in his first seven Tests, to the midfield, where he will link up with the experienced Esterhuizen for the first time. It will be Moodies' first first-class appearance at outside centre, however, Springbok coach Jaques Nienaber has been hinting that this experiment is on the cards for a while.
Springbok coach Jaques Nienaber said that he is very proud of Moodie and explained the search for the right combinations leading to the Rugby World Cup.
“He had been good for his franchise, the Bulls, in the United Rugby Championship and we have been following him for quite some time. Unfortunately, there have been a couple of injuries and he is the fifth or sixth right wing we have played this year.
“We are trying to get some answers on certain positions heading into the World Cup and Canan Moodie along with Kurt-Lee Arende was some of those answers.
