Affies will travel this afternoon to play against Helpmekaar Kollege in both these two top rugby schools' first "big" game of 2022.
These two proud schools have played each other 64 times since 1929, Affies winning 38 times while 5 games ended in a draw. Helpmekaar last won against Affies in 1998 with 22-07 and although coming close to upsetting the Wit Bulle on several occasions Helpmekaar could not beat the boys from Pretoria in six games since 1998.
Affies had a great start to the season when they beat Diamantveld 40-03 in Kimberley a week ago. They had a great first half, however, taking their foot off the petrol in the second half, only scoring a single five-pointer in the second 40 minutes.
Helpmekaar travelled to the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands to test themselves against Michaelhouse and scored an impressive 24-20 win a week ago.
Although it is early in the 2022 season expect both teams to leave everything on the field during the game with lifelong friendships started afterwards.
