Can Affies 1stXV End KES’ Six Years Dominance “Oppie Plaas”?

Affies will host KES on Saturday and will be desperate to end KES' dominance "oppie Plaas" as their last win on the Plaas against KES was in 2015 when they beat KES 92-00.

Affies played KES fourteen times since 1997, they won twelve times and lost twice. The match at Affies in 2017 was stopped due to lightning while KES was leading and if you ask a KES support that counts as a win. In 2019 KES won 33-29 and in 2021 10-18.

Affies have played eight matches in 2023 and lost four matches against Paarl Boishaai (19-26), Garsfontein (38-45), Paarl Gim (21-38) and Paul Roos (25-31) who are all ranked as one of the top five 1stXVs in the country.

KES has played ten matches in 2023 and lost three matches against Paarl Gim (19-49), Paarl Boishaai (08-10) and Queen's College (19-21).

KES will arrive full of confidence knowing that Affies' game plan is not a settled one as Affies struggle to combine the all-action gameplay with limited errors on the attack and defence. Affies played their best rugby when they slowed the game down to such an extent that they limited their mistakes slowly grinding out a good win. KES on the other hand needs to be slowed down otherwise ..........

It will be an extremely close game with Affies hopefully not painted red before KES return to Johannesburg.
