Buthelezi Happy To Be The Swiss Army Knife For Hollywoodbets Sharks

Phepsi Buthelezi's primary position for the Hollywoodbets Sharks is #8, however, the 25-year-old has shown that he can successfully switch to other positions in the loose trio.

“We take the same mindset as the Boks with the bomb squad, it’s something we are really proud of, if you are on the bench you have to make an impact at the most important part of the game, you need to finish it strong."

"When you step onto the field wearing the Sharks jersey you just give it your all, that is our message going into games.”

“I wouldn’t say it makes my life difficult at all, it is a role that I’ve always had."

“In some games in the past, I would be starting but I will still be covering one or two other roles, so to me, it doesn’t change anything."

“I am enjoying being versatile between the three positions. I think it is going to help me a lot going forward."

“I’m enjoying having a different role now and I think coming off the bench for the team has been a refreshing change for me. It’s something I want to become good at.”

“In fact, I don’t mind playing anyway, whether it’s openside, blindside or No.8. In recent years, I’ve had a lot of opportunities at No.8, which I’ve really enjoyed."

“As long as I’m on the field and as long as I’m able to contribute towards the team and get the desired result, the jersey I have on my back isn’t an issue for me.”

Buthelezi said the loss to Benetton in the United Rugby Championship was a watershed moment for the Hollywoodbets Sharks.

“After our disappointing loss in our last game on tour to Benetton, some of the players that were a part of the Bok setup came back and we all sat down and had an honest conversation."

“We discussed what we wanted to achieve this season and asked ourselves what it we stand for as a team and what it means to play for the Sharks. Our focus is on how can we push our standards, make each other better and leave the jersey in a better place than where we found it, and that’s a credit to the great leaders in our squad.”
