Brown Excited To Create An Attacking Game To Become The Best-attacking Team In The World

Springbok assistant coach Tony Brown fronted the media on Tuesday said the Springboks are completely aware of the challenge presented by the short turnaround between their match on Sunday against Scotland and Saturday’s forthcoming Test against England in London, and are fully focused on ensuring that the players are fresh physically and mentally when the sides cross paths for the first time since the 2023 Rugby World Cup semi-final.

“It’s always tough with a short turnaround because you lose a training day, so the players need to adapt,” said Brown.

“That said, we are doing our best to ensure that they are fresh physically and mentally for the match.”

Brown reiterated his excitement to be a member of the Springbok coaching staff and said he was satisfied with the way the team’s attack has been evolving, although there was work ahead to achieve their goal of becoming the best-attacking team in the world.

"As a coach, it's a massive honour to coach the Springboks. There's a lot of talent in the team, and for me as an attack coach, to be able to get a hold of that talent and get a little bit of free licence to try and change the way they look at the game and play the game is exciting. I am trying to use the natural ability of some of the players around their X-factor and their physicality and their size to create an attacking game that can be hopefully make the Springboks the best team in the world."

"Rassie asked me to see if we can improve our game on the attack and see if we can get some of our special athletes the ball with space and give them an opportunity to be great on the rugby field."
