The Springboks travelled to Cape Town after two disappointing tests against Wales for a series decider. Captain Siya Kolisi led from the front to help the Springboks to a convincing 30-14 series-winning win, outscoring the visitors four tries to one.
The best first forty minutes by the Springboks against Wales this year, however, their disability to really worry Wales' brilliant defence must be addressed during halftime or else it could become a long afternoon for the Springboks who "deserved" a lot better at that stage. Wales on the other had three opportunities to score and converted it into points on two occasions.
The second half saw the Welsh defence fading with the Springboks becoming more clinical on the attack to end a brilliant test with a four tries to one victory in their best performance against Wales this year.
03:07 Handre Pollard converted a penalty for the Springboks. A just reward for the dominance of the Springboks since the kickoff. (03-00)
14:00 Handre Pollard scored the Springboks' first try of the match. The Springboks set up camp in Wles' red zone for the first fourteen minutes of the match, however, the defence of Wales managed to keep them out until now. (10-00)
18:01 Tommy Reffell was Wales' quick reply to the try by the Springboks as he went over in the corner for Wales. (10-05)
20:00 The first twenty minutes were the Springboks' best in the series against Wales, unfortunately, poor decision-making and unforced errors by the Boks combined with the brilliant defence of Wales only allowed the try of Handre Pollard. This try was followed by a quick and "easy" try by Wales.
32:59 Dan Biggar converted his first penalty of the match to narrow the gap to just two points and seven minutes to go in the first half. (10-08)
37:19 Bongi Mbonambi scored the Springboks' second try after he timed his break from the back of a 5m lineout maul to perfection. (17-08)
40:00 The best first forty minutes by the Springboks against Wales this year, however, their disability to really worry Wales' brilliant defence must be addressed during halftime or else it could become a long afternoon for the Springboks who "deserved" a lot better at that stage. 47:22 Dan Biggar converted Wales' third penalty. (17-14)
52:30 Siya Kolisi scored the Springboks' fort try, bulldozing his way over the tryline as Wales started to struggle defending against the wave after wave of bulldozing runs by the big Springbok forwards. (24-14)
60:00 The defence of Wales started to show signs of serious cracks opening up with the Springboks unfortunately still making mistakes on the attack which would have given them a big margin at that stage.
77:23 Handre Pollard converted his second penalty of the match. (27-14)
80:00 Another converted penalty by Handre Pollard. (30-14)
