Rondebosch Boys High will host Paarl Boishaai on Saturday 15 May 2021 @ 12h00. Although Boishaai lost to Grey College last weekend one can not see Rondebosch beating Boishaai for the first time since 1997.
The Rondebosch & Paarl Boys’ First XVs have met 89 times, Bosch winning 32, Paarl 52 and 5 draws, the last being 0-0 in 1995. From 1938 through to 1950 the two schools often played each other twice a season.
RBHS's longest run of being unbeaten was from 1959 through to 1971. Paarl Boys won all the matches from 1998 onwards. Rondebosch's 1997 Centenary team, was the last to win (14-0) against Paarl Boishaai.
Last Five Years Results:
2020 - Paarl Boishaai 05-15 Rondebsch (Newlands Rugby Day)
2019 - Paarl Boishaai 47-10 Rondebosch
2018 - Did not play
2017 - Paarl Boishaai 73-08 Rondebosch
2016 - Paarl Boishaai 25-06 Rondebosch
What to expect from Boishaai
Boishaai already played four games this season. They won against Welkom Gim (59-21), Noordheuwel (79-07) and Monnas (34-18). Their only loss came against a rampant Grey College last weekend where they were outplayed in the second half (03-37).
Boishaai weaknesses were exposed by the powerful Grey College last weekend. They have a powerful and exciting pack of forwards that can compete at the highest level. Unfortunately, that can not be said regarding their backline, however, I do believe they will be more than able to make life difficult for Rondebosch.
What to expect from Rondebosch
Rondebosch had only one outing this season which they lost against Wynberg (05-19).
I do not know much of Rondebosch's 1stXV, however, I do know that they love to run with the ball as they always have some great and exciting backs that can run any team's defence to tatter.
Prediction:
Rain is predicted for the weekend which will suit the heavy forwards of Boishaai, therefore, Boishaa must be the favourites to continue their dominance against Rondebosch.
