The Blitzboks opened their campaign at the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Toulouse with a 31-07 loss to France 7's.
The Blitzboks started the match playing constructive rugby, however, a missed tackle gave the French opportunity to strike from their half to open the scoring with an early try.
A yellow card to Ronald Brown made it easy for France to score an opportunist try to extend their lead to 12-00 after six minutes of play, which was also the halftime score.
France continued their dominance as they scored two brilliant tries to lead 24-00 with four minutes left to play in the second half.
With less than two minutes left to play James Murphy scored under the poles.
France scored their fifth try with seconds left to play following bad defence by the Blitzboks to win 31-07.
