The Blitzboks played Fiji Sevens in the second quarter-final of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series - Los Angeles and once again disappointed in their 07-28 loss.
The Blitzboks will face Samoa in 5th place semi-final at 23:30 (SA Time).
Fiji 7s controlled possession for most of the first half, however, a great defensive effort by the Blitzboks kept the Fiji 7s from scoring. Unfortunately, the speed of Iowane Teba out wide proved too much for the Blitzboks when he scored Fiji 7's first try of the match and 2 minutes left to play.
Iowane Teba scored his second try during the 8th minute of the second half for Fiji to go into the second half leading 14-00.
The Blitzboks' defence once again started to crumble against a bigger opposition when Jerry Tuwai crushed through several tackles to score Fiji 7's third try.
Ryan Oosthuizen's yellow card following Fiji 7's try did not help with 5 minutes to play.
Fiji 7's fourth try, was the result of once again halfhearted defence by the Blitzboks as Josua Vakurinabili bulldozed his way over the Blitzboks' tryline.
A consolation try by Ricardo Duarttee after time was up on the clock did not help at all. The Fiji 7s are comfortably winning 28-07.
