An Additional Two Boys Tested Positive For Use Of Illegal Substances At Craven Week 2022

 

Following the announcement by the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport in December that two schoolboy rugby players were suspended after testing positive for the use of illegal substances at the 2022 Craven Week, an announcement was made yesterday that an additional two boys were banned from competing after testing positive for the use of illegal substances at the 2022 Craven Week.

Both Craven Week players suspended are minors and could not by law be identified:

Player 1: A three (3) year sanction from all sport on the South African Rugby (SARU) for a minor (protected person) player, following an anti-doping rule violation after participation in Craven Week. The minor tested positive for the presence of Metandienone Metabolite, Metandienone LTM. Their period of ineligibility began on 10th August 2022 (the date of notification of provisional suspension) and will serve until and including 9th August 2025.

Player 2: A two (2) years 9 months sanction from all sport on the South African Rugby (SARU) for a minor (protected person) player, following an anti-doping rule violation after participating at Craven Week. The minor tested positive for the presence of Nandrolone (19-norandrosterone). Their period of ineligibility began on 19th September 2022 (the date of notification of provisional suspension) and will serve until and including 18th June 2025.
