2017 - Preview
The starting 1stXVt team consisted of twelve (12) Gr11/U17 boys. If the success during the UJ Coke 0/17 rugby series, which largely consist of Makro schools participants such as Monnas, Marais Viljoen,Florida and Kemptonpark.Hoerskool Alberton, is anything to go by 2017 will be a very successfull year.
D.Koutoulogenis, J.Dadswell, D.Brockway, JJ Marais, M.Swart, T.Loots, M.Botha, G Job, JP Botha, J Vermeulen, B vd Berg, R Muller, J Potgieter, M Hoffman, E Ferreira and D du Toit are all returning players and with the following u/16's expecting to have an impact A.Nel, T.Duvenhage, JP Groenewald, S Nkosi, A Kleinhans, P vd Merwe, W Marsau and J Prinsloo.

The schools success is a reflection of coaches who are enthusiastic and attend every coaching course/clinic possible in order to grow their knowledge of the game. Coaches and children work very hard and put in the necessary extra time in order to compete in this Lions Big schools league.

Provincial: Current Lions Currie Cup and Superrugby player Koch Marx,101 Craven Week players and several other provincial rugby players.
2016
This year Hoerskool Alberton's 0/14 rugby team won the Lions Big Schools league, the 2nd team won the Lions Big Schools league the 0/16's and First team both played semifinals for the Lions Big Schools league. Lunga Molele (nr7) was also selected to represent the Lions u/19 schools team at the NWU provincial tournament. The 1stXV's results is encouraging as the starting XV consisted of twelve (12) Gr11/U17 boys. Therefore the success during the UJ Coke u/17 rugby series which largely consist of Makro schools participants such as Monnas,Marais Viljoen,Florida and Kemptonpark.Hoërskool, Alberton managed to play in the semifinal and take 3rd place which is a first for any Bigschool participating in this series since its existence. Alberton managed to beat a few big guns such as Florida 18-34, Kemptonpark 21-41and Klerksdorp 0-16 convincingly along the way.
