Affies vs Glenwood 2016 – Handbags Out?

A match played with more emotion and passion than this derby between Affies and Glenwood will result in an urgent call to the Riot Police Unit. Since these two schools started to play each other in 2007 most of the matches saw some kind of handbag action on and off the field. The future and need for it being discussed yearly.

Affies this year hosts the SANIX world champions, Glenwood, who failed to impress since their return from Japan. Beating DHS 24 - 23 and going down to Monnas 40 - 15 before securing a win against Westville by 26 - 3, all is waiting in anticipation for Glenwood to show their true colours. Their lack of game time will count against them as they have not played a game since the 11th of June 2016. The majority of their players was involved in the Youth Weeks so match fitness will not be a problem.

Affies on the other hand has showed against Maritzburg that they do not want to add another loss to this year's stats. However loosing their tight head prop James Combrinck might give Glenwood some hope. Up front Glenwood received a major hiding from Monnas and one can expect this match being decided up front. Expect this one to be played with a lot of fire and passion. But unfortunately with the forwards of Affies in superb form I can not see Glenwood coming close.
