Today is the last day of action in the 2022 u/16 Grant Khomo Week hosted in Kimberley at the Northern Cape Griquas Stadium with some brilliant action expected.
At the beginning of the 2022rugby season, a lot of speculation was doing the rounds regarding the effect the two years of almost no schoolboy rugby would have on the quality of rugby. Admittingly, the "lack of quality" at some provinces was evident, however, day two dished up some brilliant rugby for the spectators with excitement for day three's fixtures running high.
The Sharks will also be in action in the final match of the SA Rugby U16 Grant Khomo Week in Kimberley, where they will meet Free State for bragging rights. Both are undefeated after two rounds of matches. Namibia and Griquas XV, who is also unbeaten, will play the final match on the B-field.
The match between the Sharks and Cheetahs will be a match played at an insane pace with the Cheetahs maybe having the better attack while the Sharks showed against Western Province that although they can attack with pace and purpose their defence is the foundation they build their success on.
Expect the Blue Bulls to attempt to take revenge on the Western Province XV after their humiliation against the Free State, however, ......
The match between the Lions and Border could be the best of the day with a properly coached Lions team that will face the exciting Border team. The grunt upfront and brilliant halfback pairing of the Lions should serve them well.
Western Province has shown their "weakness" against a proper defensive outfit, however, Boland will rather try to run them off their feet. Therefore, this should be a high-scoring match with plenty of excitement for the spectators
The main match on the B Field will see Griquas' XV ask their visitors from Namibia some difficult questions on the attack as well as defence and although the boys from Namibia will put up a big fight the speed of their hosts' will be a bit too much.
