DHL Western Province u/20 will look to reserve their place in the 2022 SARU u/20 Cup final when they host the Leopards u/20 side at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town @ 16h15 today.
DHL Western Province will play their last match in the league rounds leading the competition with 19 points on the log. A five-pointer today will make sure that the second-placed Cell C Sharks can not overtake them. A loss by the Vodacom Bulls at Loftus today will secure the DHL Western Province u/20s a home final.
Six changes were made to the DHL Western Province u/20 side. Head Coach Labeeb Levy’s team will be looking for their fifth win of the season and cement their place in the final scheduled for 16 April 2022.
Melbirt van der Spuy will make his first appearance at #13 in the starting line-up forming a new centre combination with Hofmeyr Retief who replaces Philasande Ngcobo. Mikael Volmoer is the third and last change at the back at scrumhalf, replacing Jaques Theron.
Up front Paul de Villiers and Louw Nel are the new faces on the side of the scrum. Oliver Kurz replaces Imad Phillips at lock as the third and final change up front.
The Leopards u/20s made wholesale changes to their starting line-up.
Up front it is only Eightman E Carelse and Loosehead prop Daniel Theron that survived the cut.
At fullback F Osualo is promoted from the bench replacing H Mostert that moves to the wing, replacing S Roulston. C Gates is the new flyhalf replacing Alec Vermaak who drops to the bench.
