Rugby First Played By Schoolboys And Still The Best When Played By Schoolboys
An exciting weekend of schoolboy rugby awaits the hungry parents as the countries' supporters and parents ready them for a wonderful uninterrupted rugby season.
The Fichardt Park Rugby Day will see a hurting Welkom Gim that will try and get their season back on track against Landboudal after their big loss against Grey College a week ago. Diamantveld should be looking to build on their win over Grey College 3rdXV last weekend and continue their fine form against Sentraal. Noord Kaap will get their season going against a strong Goudveld the hosts will play a good Marlow team that travelled all the way from the Eastern Cape.
The Gill Rugby Festival will kick off rugby in the Eastern Cape while KwaZulu-Natal will flock to Voortrekker High School Pietermaritzburg to attend a great festival. The highlight of the games should be that between Glenwood and Westville. An exciting Maritzburg College will want to get that dangerous backline going against Sarel Cilliers while the influence of Peter Engledouw on DHS will also be keenly watched as they play against St Charles.
The NWU Prestige series' first two games will be played with the Rustenburg 1stXV the major talking point in their centenary year.
The Pukke Top 16 Series is in its second week. Piet Retief will be on a high after their "surprising" win over Pionier last weekend while Leeuwenhof will want to grab the opportunity to establish them early as the favourites.
Ben Vorster and Monnas will be playing "trials" while the poor Duineveld will have to try and withstand the might of the 2022 Grey College 1stXV. With the NoordVaal Cup competition believed to be the closest contested in years Waterkloof's 1stXV against Montana could give an early indication of Waterkloof's class.
