13-Man DHL Stormers Hang On For Six Point Win Against Cell C Sharks


The DHL Stormers hosted the Cell C Sharks in Cape Town on Saturday. The DHL Stormers took control of the match from early on on the back of their dominant pack of forwards to lead 26-11 with 20 minutes to go. The Cell C Sharks scored two late tries against a 13-man DHL Stormers team to lose 29-23.

The first quarter of the match was still evenly balanced with the host maybe just the more exciting team taking more chances on the attack.

The dominance of the DHL Stormers of their pack of forwards resulted in the DHL Stormers slowly but surely taking charge of the match. The DHL Stormers scored three tries as a result of their dominance in the scrums. The DHL Stormers led 19-06 at the end of the first half.

The Cell C Sharks looked a lot better early in the third quarter, attacking with purpose, unfortunately, they could only add one try to their score. The DHL Stormers were still in control at the end of the third quarter to lead 26-13.

Two late tries by the Cell C Sharks against a 13-man DHL Stormers had the Stormers leading 26-23 with two minutes to go. A late penalty by Manie Libbok secured a 29-23 DHL Storers' win.
