In the Central Region, a storm is slowly developing and if the experts are to be believed it will develop in a hurricane thrashing everything coming in its way. This storm is called Grey College. Grey College is like last year building to the Wildeklawer where they will want to confirm their position as the no 1 rugby school in South Africa. Grey College beat Louis Botha HTS 61-7 on Friday night and just to confirm their superiority in Bloemfontein the Cherries have beaten Sentraal 58-0. Boland Landbou and Paarl Gim be scared very scared.

The Griffons league is in full swing and Witteberg has shown in their victory against Hentie Cilliers that the mean business. The first half was one of missed opportunities and saw them trailing 12-17 going in the second half. They started the second half as a team on a mission upping the tempo considerable scoring four tries against the one by Hentie Cilliers. Welkom Gymnasium as expected was definitely in a class of their own and ran Sasolburg HTS to pieces winning a one-sided battle 72-5. The other two matches saw Voortrekker Bethlehem beating Welkom HTS 69-3 and Rooiskool AHS Kroonstad was an easy winner with 49-21 against a very willing Goudstad.

The rest of the Central Region did not deliver any surprises with Jim Fouche beating Fichardt Park 27-17 and Vrede demolishing Ladybrandt 66-5.
