The Southern Kings Set To “Profit” From Injuries

The Southern Kings is set to profit from the upcoming local competition as injuries become a real worry for the remaining seven franchises who will compete.

The Cheetahs is already looking for a short term replacement for injured hooker Wilmar Arnoldi. They are said to be in negotiations with the Kings to secure ex Cheetahs hooker Jaques du Toit as a short term replacement for Arnoldi.

With the makeup of the Cheetahs, Pumas and Griquas whose player depth after injuries will always be under pressure, the Kings could still financially gain when their players are contracted as cover by these franchises.

The situation at the "Big Four" is very different as they have a big group of junior players who is good enough to represent them in the upcoming local senior series. However, this could change if/when the expected u/21 competition is confirmed for the 2020 season.
