SSL ReLive – Dale College 1stXV vs Grey High 1stXV

In the first SSL Relive game for the weekend Dale College hosts Grey PE is a match that is always one of the best matches played in the Eastern Cape. 2017 was no exception with Dale definately not the favourites.

Grey College suffered its first loss the week before against St Andrew's (36-41) and would end the season with only four losses for the season. Dale College on the other hand already lost three games thus far, but admittingly were unbeaten since the Grey High festival winning seven games in a row.

The big difference on the day was Dale's Aphelele Fassi on flyhalf who contributed two tries on the day. The halftime score was 18-10 for Dale who lost the plot in the second half and needed a penalty converted in the last seconds of the game to win with only one point.

Siphamandla Matsinya and Dashaan Mitchley were the only two boys selected for the Border u/18 Craven Week Squad. This 2017 team had 8 boys that were already u/19 therefore the few boys selected for representative teams.

Aphelele Fassi's career is one of the success stories of 2020. Aphelele a superstar in the Sharks Super Rugby team and earmarked to make his Springbok debut sooner than later.

Ruan Jonker, Laken Grey, Bevin Prinsloo, Waquar Solaan, Ayabonga Matroos, John-Douglas Allison, Dumisa Ncovane, Uan Tait and Kolwa Konza all made the EP u/18 Craven Week squad. Travis de Bruin, James Scott and Runaldo Pedro were selected for the EP u/18 Academy Squad.

Waqar Solaan was contracted at the Western Province and was part of the Matas 2020 Varsity Cup squad.
