FNB Classic Clash – Pieterburg vs Ben Vorster – 28 May 2016

HS Pietersburg 40-29 HS Ben Vorster

Form the outset, the crowd knew they would be in for a spectacular match as both teams were up for the FNB Classic Clash challenge.

The home side’s first half points came from tries by JV Coetzee and Henk van Zyl, while Morne Venter added both conversions as well as two penalties for their 20 first half points. Ben Vorster, on the hand, could only manage two unconverted tries through Stefan Engelbrecht and Welmar Pieterse.

That led to Pietersburg holding a 20-10 lead at the half-time interval.

It was a carbon-copy in terms of points for Pietersburg in the second half as Francois de Beer and Miguel de Sousa got their names onto the try-scorers list while Venter once again added the conversions and a further two penalties.

Ben Vorster outscored their hosts, in terms of tries scored, as JJ Anker, Danny Mokhoabane and Tumi Monoyane got over the try line. Andre Klopper and Mokhoabane could only manage to slot one penalty each though, as their kicking woes continued.

That inability to convert their tries, led to Ben Vorster suffering just their third defeat of the season.
