23 June 2017 - Noordvaal In A Playoff Frenzy - The Macro schools games are no playoffs but as with last week we can expect big scoreline, that is if the organisers did not pay the schools to proof my scepticism wrong. Monnas hosts Rustenburg in Krugersdorp having lost only 2 games in their 17 matches this year. Rustenburg, on the other hand, won 2 from 11 matches this year and does not stand a chance in hell beating Monnas. Waterkloof host Kempton Park in a game that was more or less decide in the beginning of the year. Again no hope in hell.

23 June 2017 - The Eastern Cape Providing The Action, Again. - St Andrew's quest to be crowned as the Eastern Cape's top rugby school. 23 June 2017Only Two Games In KZN? - Glenwood must be the favourite for this match but Maritzburg College has shown glimpses of their past proud history with their victories against Hilton and Westville but came unstuck as soon one expected some great performances by them. Glenwood but not with a big margin.

23 June 2017 - Can Wynberg Turn Their Season Around Against SACS? - The fixture on Saturday promises to be an explosive encounter with both schools looking to end their first part of the season on a high note. The first team game is always keenly contested and this weekend it has the added flavour of being the SACS Matrics final home rugby match against Wynberg.

22 June 2017 - Landbou Out To End Eight Year Drought - It hurts to have to say this, but the visitors haven’t shown enough signs of resurgence anywhere except in the front row, where James Alexander and Luthando Woji have caught the eye, and, on occasion, in the loose phases, in which old warhorse Cameron Bowes has found a willing apprentice in lively Inga Halu.

22 June 2017 - Opening Fixtures For National Girls U18 Week Announced - The SA Rugby National Girls U18 Week will again add a female touch to the SA Rugby Youth Weeks Series from 3 to 7 July at the HT Pelatona Projects Stadium in Welkom, with several high-profile battles lined up for the opening day’s play.

21 June 2017 - The Movers and Shakers of the Week Ending 18 June 2017 - Surprisingly we have two new entrants in the top 100. #100 Krugersdorp High and #99 Hugenote from the Western Cape moved into the top 100 without playing a game due to the losses of Fochville, who lost 8 places after their loss against Bekker Hoërskool and Alberton losing 15 places after their loss against Dinamika 0-5.

21 June 2017 - The Weekend That Was 18 June 2017 - The massacre at Monnas was widely covered with the game stopped 10 minutes before full-time Monnas winning 89-3 against Florida. In the battle of the Saints, St Stithians won a hard fought battle 40-34 against St Benedicts. St Benedicts ending a season from hell only winning 2 of their 14 fixtures this season.

20 June 2017 - Bondedag @ Pretoria - 01 July 2017 - The Northern Bondedag held at Loftus Versveld in Pretoria is traditionally the last dress rehearsal for the respective youth weeks to follow. A lot of provinces will not show their true colours while others will want to stake an early claim. This year's provisional fixtures promises some exciting action.

19 June 2017 - Augustus Named U20 Player Of The Tournament - Augustus, fondly known as “Trokkie” by his team-mates, crossed the tryline in each of the team’s five matches in the international spectacle to finish the tournament with a grand total of seven tries. This marked the most tries by a player in the 2017 tournament.

19 June 2017 - Junior Boks’ Fighting Spirit Earns Them Bronze - “The players showed great character to come out in the second half the way they did in what marked their fifth match in the tournament,” said Roux. “We didn’t play perfect rugby, but we stuck to our structures and one or two things we worked on before this match gave us momentum.

He is currently the joint top try scorer in the competition.

15 June 2017 - What is Monnas Still Doing In The VirSeker Competition? - The VirSeker Beker and for that matter, the TUKS and all other competitions have no place anymore. The Ruggas.co.za solution is: divide the schools into divisions that bring back strength vs strength matches, which will bring in the spectators and no need to bribe or force the pupils to attend as the sponsors want full stands for the television cameras.

16 Junie 2017 - Junior Boks Pick Themselves Up For Bronze Playoff  - The Junior Springboks went down 24-22 with a brave fight against England in the semi-final of the World Rugby U20 Championship at the M.Meskhi Stadium on Tuesday with a late try by the defending champions sealing the two-point victory.

16 Junie 2017 - On A Rainy Cold And Wet Farm Waited The Boys In Black - Boishaai was as expected too strong for Boishaai and lost (0-25) and Paul Roos beating Oakdale (27-10) after they also had the thinking flyhalf using the boot to good effect in the wet weather.

14 June 2017 - Noordvaal Busy But Not Buzzing - Noordvaal is divided into two camps with the VirSeker Competition representing the majority of schools in this region. Unfortunately, this structure is outdated and does not guarantee competitive matches across the board anymore. A rethink is apparently under way and one can only hope it will be done with the best interest of schoolboy rugby in mind.

14 June 2017 - Maritzburg College Must Be A Happy Place - In what everybody expected to be a very close game between Maritzburg College and Westville turned out to be a very one-sided match with Maritzburg eventually winning 50-15 and suddenly becoming a candidate for becoming KZN's top team for 2017. With matches against Kearsney and Glenwood the next to weeks, their smiles could even become bigger than what it is currently.

14 June 2017 - And Then Dale Hits The X, Just - The much-anticipated match between Framesby and Glenwood was cancelled due to the fears of parents regarding the safety of the boys while travelling to the Eastern Cape. No parent can be blamed to be concerned when their child's safety is in question BUT they do still expect school's from other provinces to travel to Durban in the same circumstances?

14 June 2017 - The Movers and Shakers of the Week Ending 11 June 2017 - In the Top 50 Noord Kaap (10.6) Pretoria Boys High (7.80) Waterkloof (6.64), Framesby (5.39) and Bishops (4.02) were the schools who increased their ranking points the most. 09 June 2017 - Noordvaal Busy But Not That Exciting? - Jeppe hosts St Alban's in a game that could just go the way of the guests. Jeppe lost their last 6 games in a row and the boys' self-confidence must be at an all-time low. St Albans, on the other hand, is improving and only lost 4 of their 15 matches this year and although their opponents could not be of the same strength than that which Jeppe lost to, losing can become a habit.

09 June 2017 - Hilton To Be Pleased With The Return On Capital? - In the big match of the weekend, Maritzburg College hosts Westville. Both teams are experiencing an average season with Westville maybe a bit more confident as they won against the Glenwood slayers DHS last weekend. Maritzburg College had the better of Hilton last weekend and their second half of the season just a little bit more impressive than that of Westville.

09 June 2017 - Grey High With An X On Their Back - This week they come up against a Dale College that is full of confidence after 7 victories in a row. Dale College is a team known for its physical approach and will be in the face of Grey the whole afternoon. Grey High, on the other hand, will use their big forwards to enforce their structural game plan and will look to calm things down at all costs.

09 June 2017 - Farmers Mentally Prepared For Paarl Gym - It goes without saying (oops, there, I’ve said it) that Gym’s visit to Windmeul is the star attraction.  After seven lean years against the Northern Paarl team, the Farmers have effectively been building up to this massive derby and their visit to Paarl Boys’ High in two week’s time.

09 June 2017 - It Is VirSeker The Kids Who Are Losing - "Indien u oordeel is dat die besluit van krag moet bly sal ons kliënt hulle posisie heroorweeg, wat sal insluit om die hooggeregshof op 'n dringende basis te nader," according to J.W. 08 Junie 2017 - Stellenberg To Claim Another Premier A Scalp? - Beaten by three of the four top-flight teams they have faced this winter, the Jade Brigade would dearly love to close this chapter with an emphatic bang.  Hopefully, it would go some way to assuaging the self-doubt brought on by single point defeats at the hands of Bishops and Boland Landbou.
