Brumbies Got Out Of Jail In Lucky Win Against Reds

The Brumbies hosted the Reds in a round 5 Super Rugby AU clash and scored a very lucky 22-20 win. The Brumbies are still at the top of the 2020 Rugby AU competition log, beating the Reds the seventh time in a row.

The Brumbies started the game with purpose and reaped the rewards within five minutes of the start of the game. After the initial excitement, nothing much happened in the remaining minutes of the first quarter. The Brumbies are definately in control of the game and 7-0 in the lead on the scoreboard.

Apart from a second try scored by Folau Fainga'a which helped the Brumbies to a comfortable 14-3 lead at halftime, nothing much exciting happened in the second quarter.

The Reds made the perfect start to the second half as they scored two converted tries to take the lead with 17-14 within the first six minutes in the second half. A converted penalty stretched the Reds' lead to 20-14 after a point-scoring spree of 17 points in only ten minutes. The Reds dominated the rest of the third quarter and ended deservedly in the lead with 20-14 with 20 minutes to go.

A very even and high paced game with the Reds threatening the whole time to stretch their lead even more. However, it was the Brumbies who scored a forward try with four minutes left on the clock. The Brumbies were still one point short as they could not convert the try. The Reds' defence held until a penalty was awarded to the Brumbies with two minutes past normal playing time. The Brumbies converted the penalty to win 22-20.

The Brumbies will play against the Rebels, while the Reds will play the Waratahs next weekend.
